Today I received a wonderful matching set of 21"2Sizzle 2168g & 23" 2695g. Both cymbals play in an ensemble to create a rich sound. The odd-sized Lius Cymbals in particular have the perfect pitch, which cannot be expressed with even-sized cymbals. The Sizzle cymbals in particular are a joy to play together, and are made by the world's best cymbalsmiths.
I purchased a 22' ride and it might be the best purchase I've ever made. It has the perfect balance between dark and tone and brilliant stick definition. Not only is it a cymbal that sounds great on its own but also in the context of an ensemble. I've tried it out in trios, quartets and even big bands, and it kills all the time! It's just a matter of time before Lius becomes a giant in the cymbal smith community. 10 of 10, strongly recommend!
I purchased this. The Vintage Series is also a great sounding cymbal. I feel that Lius cymbals have the power to design music.
The sound of the cymbals you make matches the music, is the optimal pitch required in modern times, and you are the only cymbal maker in the world who has the ability to design music. I have bought various Cymbals from Cymbal Smith, but even though they have a beautiful sound, they often do not match the music. Lius Cymbal has shaped my thoughts about the sound and reflected it in the sound, and that sensitivity is wonderful.
I had been looking for a 21" main ride for jazz gigs for the last year and a friend shared Lius' videos with me. I contacted him and he sent me the a killer ride at a great price. This 21" has a smaller hand formed bell that gives the cymbal the perfect amount of wash and crashes beautifully, yet is very controlled with excellent stick definition for lower volume jazz gigs. In a ever growing community of independent cymbal makers Lius is an absolute master of his craft.
